Corsair built its reputation from the ground up as a computer hardware provider starting with RAM. Eventually, they expanded into other product lines such as cooling accessories, power supplies, and gaming devices.
The company has now announced that they have acquired Raptor Gaming to strengthen and expand its computer gaming device line.
Andy Paul, Corsair’s President and CEO, says that “Corsair and Raptor share the same goal, bringing best-in-class PC hardware to gamers around the world.”
“Raptor Gaming’s strong retail presence will allow us to offer a wider range of PC hardware to gamers across Germany.”
Raptor Gaming is a company that specializes in gaming peripherals. It was launched in 2004 and is based in Heisenberg, Germany – the country which is Europe’s largest market for video games. Raptor Gaming has a very strong retail presence there, with their products widely available in several major stores all over the country such as Saturn, Kaufland, Media Markt, Conrad, and Real.
Dirk Schunk, CEO of Raptor Gaming, says “As gamers ourselves, we formed the Raptor Gaming business to create high-performance PC gear to give gamers the absolute best gaming experience.”
“Corsair’s strong global brand and worldwide distribution will open up Raptor Gaming products to a wider audience of gamers around the world.”
As part of the agreement between the two companies, Corsair will receive the complete portfolio of products of Raptor Gaming, which includes mice, keyboards, headsets, and other such accessories. These products will be featured in a new product series for Corsair, which will be sold alongside its existing Vengeance series of computer gaming peripherals.
Also as part of the agreement, Schunk and Raptor Gaming COO Heinz-Dieter Ludwig will remain with the company to facilitate the smooth transition of the acquisition by Corsair.
