It was rumored that Zynga wanted to purchase the developers of Draw Something, but now it is official. Zynga has purchased OMGPOP for $180 million plus $30 million for employee retention payments.
If you were wondering why they spent $180 for one app, this will help clarify… They purchased the entire company of OMGPOP, which makes a variety of online games. If you have ever heard of Gaia Online, that is an OMGPOP-created game. Since Zynga has purchased the entire company, all of OMGPOP’s games, staff, and assets now belong to Zynga.
